Famous Bible Verses in Hebrews
One way to judge the influence of a book of the Bible is to consider how many memorable Bible quotations are found there. The Letter of Hebrews is exceedingly rich in memorable verses. Here is just a sampling of these in the New International Version.
"How shall we escape if we ignore such a great salvation?" (Hebrews 2:3a)
"Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted." (Hebrews 2:18)
"For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow." (Hebrews 4:12)
"For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are -- yet was without sin." (Hebrews 4:15)
"Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need." (Hebrews 4:16)
"Although he was a son, he learned obedience from what he suffered and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him." (Hebrews 5:8-9)
"Such a high priest meets our need -- one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens.... He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself." (Hebrews 7:26, 27)
"It is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins." (Hebrews 10:4)
"Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another -- and all the more as you see the Day approaching." (Hebrews 10:25)
"Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see." (Hebrews 11:1)
"And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him." (Hebrews 11:6)
"No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it." (Hebrews 12:11)
"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever." (Hebrews 13:8)
"Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise -- the fruit of lips that confess his name." (Hebrews 13:15)
"Obey your leaders and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you as men who must give an account. Obey them so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no advantage to you." (Hebrews 13:17)
"May the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen." (Hebrews 13:20-21)
