----------------------------------------------------------------- A FEW COMMENTS ON NETIQUETTE ----------------------------------------------------------------- What a wonderful group is forming! I am VERY impressed with the insights each had this past week -- with very difficult questions. I need to mention a few housekeeping items to make our study smoother. Those of you who have been on the Net for a while know this already, I'm sure, but please bear with me: 1. PLEASE DON'T PUT YOUR MESSAGE ALL IN CAPITALS. IT IS HARD TO READ, AND IS CONSIDERED "SHOUTING" IN E-MAIL. Instead use capitals for EMPHASIS occasionally, since underlining and italics don't work too well in e-mail messages. 2. When responding to someone's comment, please just snip the sentence or two you are commenting on, rather than the entire message. That will save everyone getting a lot of extraneous stuff to scroll through. 3. If you get behind more than a day, please just start with today's questions and don't send your "old" answers to the list. That way the conversation will stay pretty much on the same topics. 4. When some individual asks a "housekeeping" question, such as "what chapter are we in," please send your answer directly to their e-mail address rather than to the list e-mail address. This way we don't have to have as many extraneous messages sent to the list. 5. When replying with your comments, PLEASE make sure that you don't have all five study groups in either the TO: or CC: fields of your e-mail program. Send your comments ONLY to your group. That saves me from getting a lot of extra "bounced" mail. Thanks. 6. Please do not add my e-mail address or any one else's e-mail address to any bulk list you have without specific permission. A lot of times this may not be intended as deliberate "spamming," but that's the effect anyway. We need to respect one another on this. You may send group members individual messages addressed to them, just don't put their names on a whole list you send to -- unless they give you specific permission. This is just fine-tuning, of course. I think you're all doing very well with this new method of study. Keep up the good work. God bless you, Pastor Ralph
