How Does an "E-book" Differ from a Printed Book?

Our printed books are produced when we receive your order, printed on 8.5" x 11" paper and and opens flat with a plastic spiral binding. Printed books are shipped to you via the US Postal Service and California residents pay 7.25% sales tax. However, not all our books are available in printed form.

An "e-book" or "electronic book" is delivered or downloaded in electronic form and is not taxable. It is less expensive because our costs are lower. Many people read the e-book on their computer screen without printing it out. When you purchase the e-book, you'll receive a URL that you'll click on, initiating a download of the file onto your computer. Depending upon the speed of your connection and the size of the e-book, this can take a few seconds to many minutes to complete.

Get Adobe Reader The file is in PDF format, so to read it you'll need the free Adobe Acrobat PDF Reader, which is probably already installed on your computer. Once you've saved the e-book file, double click on the filename to open it. If it opens, that means you already have Acrobat Reader installed on your computer. If it doesn't open, you probably need to download a free copy of Acrobat Reader at http://adobe.com/products/acrobat/readermain.html They'll give you instructions on how to install Acrobat Reader on your computer.

If your e-book comes in a file that ends with the suffix .zip (for my larger e-book files), you'll need to unzip or uncompress the file. Once you save the file, when you double click on it, it should open the file and save the uncompressed copy. That means you have already have the right utility program installed in your computer. If not, download a file compression program such as WinZip or PKZip from Download.com or TuCows.com and use that to uncompress the file. Then open it for reading with Acrobat Reader.
